Fresh Week, Fresh Start
Your past is just a story. Never let it hold you back. In this case: Fresh week, fresh start.
Why? Because last Friday I made the deliberate choice to stop making progress. Last week went really well for me, I got a little scared by my success, and I chose to stop. Bad choice, right? I made a mistake. I learned from it. Just because I goofed Friday is no reason to be beating myself up come Monday.
12 Steps to Healing
We’ve all heard of the 12 step recovery programs. Alcoholics Anonymous, and similar programs, make use of this approach daily. Have you ever wondered why these programs talk about using the 12 steps every day? It’s because they know people make mistakes. We fail. We fall down. Then we pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and keep moving boldly forward. Fresh week, fresh start, right?
And why do we move boldly forward? Precisely because there are people in this world who try to beat us up with our mistakes. They want to hold us back from becoming a better person so they feel better about themselves. Well, they’re daft. Step forward boldly. Admit your mistake, learn from it, then leave it behind. And phooey to anyone who wants to beat you up with it.
My Forward Progress
I bought some furniture a week ago, and I still needed my receipt. So I went to the store today. I got the receipt, sat down to read it through, then sat with the store manager for some answers.
Their math for discounts was convoluted, but it works out. We also worked out the delivery schedule so it’s on a day with no meetings for me.
When I got home, I did a bunch of research on celebrities. I want to connect with people who have demonstrated some level of concern for wanting to stop suicide from happening. So with that research done, I’m ready to start looking up publicists and agents. I write an email as I find each one asking if we can connect for an endorsement for the book (a.k.a. a blurb).
Sales will soon start ringing through at www.GettingHappyBook.com.
It’s a fresh week, fresh start for me.
